Markdown Reader

A markdown reader that watches the file. Edit anywhere — vim, markdown-editor, VS Code — and the render updates the moment you save. Two typography knobs make the output look like your document.

Sourdough timing

The plan

Mix at 8am, fold every 30 min until 11am, shape, cold retard overnight. Bake at 9am the next day. Adjusts in summer — start later, cut the bulk by an hour.

What to remember

  • Levain at 1:5:5, ready when it doubles
  • Dough temp target: 25°C — adjust water
  • Score with the blade flat, not vertical

Just a reader. A focused one.

Live watch

Saves anywhere, renders here

The reader subscribes to the file. Save in any editor and the render updates — no reload, no refresh, no manual sync.

Two knobs

Heading and body

A curated list of eight serif / sans / mono families and a number for the size. That's it. No CSS panel, no theme picker, no line-height slider.

Curated set

Eight fonts, no more

Charter, Inter, JetBrains Mono, Georgia, Times New Roman, Helvetica, Arial, system-ui. Headings and body share the same list.

GFM

CommonMark + tables

Standard markdown with GitHub-flavoured tables, fenced code, task lists. No proprietary syntax, no plugin surface.

Quiet chrome

Calm UI, your document

The krill palette frames the window; the document inside follows whatever typography you picked. The frame is ours, the page is yours.

Tauri · Rust

Native Linux

Small binary, real file associations, no Electron. Opens .md from the file manager like a native app.

A simple interface.

Focus One app, one job. One file, one window. No tabs, no project trees, no mode pickers — the work in front of you is the work.
Beauty A locked palette, careful typography, chrome that sits still. The apps shouldn't be the part of your desktop you have to forgive.
Simplicity No settings panel, no plugin system, no power-user knobs. If a feature can't be explained in a sentence, it doesn't ship.
Ownership Your files on your disk in their original format. No accounts, no cloud, no telemetry. MIT licensed; build it yourself if you don't trust ours.

Quick install

One-liner — downloads the AppImage to ~/.local/bin, marks it executable, and registers a launcher entry. Re-run to upgrade.
