Audio Editor

Open a WAV, see the waveform, drag-select a region, cut or trim or silence it, save. Or hit R to record a fresh one from the mic — when you press stop you're already in the editor with the result.

One file. The 80% of audio work.

Record

Recording is a verb here

Press R, talk, press R again. The buffer is already in the editor when you stop — no separate "recorder" app, no project, no save dialog before you can edit.

Edit

Drag-select, cut, trim, silence

Drag on the waveform to select a region. Shift-click extends. Cut removes it; Trim keeps only it; Silence replaces it with zeros. Ten levels of undo via Ctrl+Z.

WAV in / WAV out

No codec licensing surface

PCM WAV, any rate, any bit depth (int 8/16/24/32 or float). Save preserves the source rate and depth. Recordings land at the input device's negotiated rate / 24-bit signed.

Scroll to zoom

Full view by default

Mouse-wheel zooms around the cursor frame. Fully zoomed out you see the whole track; zoomed in you can place the playhead with sample precision.

Quiet chrome

Wave first, controls second

A skinny pill of transport buttons under the waveform. Rail on the left for capture and edit actions. No status bar; no settings panel; no dark-mode toggle.

Tauri · Rust

Native Linux

cpal for capture, rodio for playback, hound for WAV I/O. AppImage and .deb. No Electron.

A simple interface.

Focus One app, one job. One file, one window. No tabs, no project trees, no mode pickers — the work in front of you is the work.
Beauty A locked palette, careful typography, chrome that sits still. The apps shouldn't be the part of your desktop you have to forgive.
Simplicity No settings panel, no plugin system, no power-user knobs. If a feature can't be explained in a sentence, it doesn't ship.
Ownership Your files on your disk in their original format. No accounts, no cloud, no telemetry. MIT licensed; build it yourself if you don't trust ours.

Quick install

One-liner — downloads the AppImage to ~/.local/bin, marks it executable, and registers a launcher entry. Re-run to upgrade.

curl -fsSL https://krill-software.github.io/install.sh | bash -s audio-editor
or download a package
Download .deb
# install with apt
sudo apt install ./Audio.Editor_0.1.0_amd64.deb

# make executable & run
chmod +x Audio.Editor_0.1.0_amd64.AppImage
./Audio.Editor_0.1.0_amd64.AppImage
